TIMESHEETS [ Top]

You are responsible for ensuring that your timesheet is completed and signed BY THE CLIENT at the end of the assignment.  You must not sign your own timesheet.

To enable the payroll department to process your timesheet it MUST reach the office by midday Monday to ensure payment into your bank account by Friday.

It is imperative that timesheets are submitted weekly.

TAX AND NATIONAL INSURANCE [ Top]

As detailed in your Terms and Conditions of Membership, Employers N.I. Contribution, P.A.Y.E. and income tax are deducted from your pay.  To ensure that tax is levied at the correct rate a P45 or P46 must be submitted.

PERSONAL INDEMNITY INSURANCE [ Top]

You are strongly advised, as a member of this agency, to have a membership of The Royal College of Nursing or of a recognised union which carries with it the protection of Personal Indemnity Insurance.

NURSING AND MIDWIFERY COUNCIL [ Top]

All qualified members must have a valid NMC Pin number, a copy of which is held on file by the agency.  Any changes e.g. replacement card, change of name etc. should be notified immediately.

It is your professional responsibility to comply with the NMC regulations in particular the Code of Professional Conduct each clause of which begins with the phrase, “As a Registered Nurse, Midwife or Health visitor, you are personally accountable for your practice…”

IDENTIFICATION [ Top]

The agency will provide you with an identity badge, which should be worn at all times during an assignment.  Should you leave the agency you must return your badge.

Qualified staff MUST present their NMC card when on assignment in NHS hospitals.

ASSIGNMENTS [ Top]

When you agree to accept an assignment please ensure that you report for duty on time and in uniform.

In the event that you are unable to fulfil the assignment you MUST contact Clyde Healthcare immediately to enable us to make alternative arrangements.

N.B. UNDER N0 CIRCUMSTANCES MUST YOU INTRODUCE ANOTHER PERSON TO AN ASSIGNMENT IN YOUR PLACE.

HEALTH AND SAFETY [ Top]

By virtue of completion and submission of the Health & Safety portion of the agency application form the member confirms their fitness to work in the areas for which they have applied.

It is a condition of membership that annual Moving & Assitance training is undertaken and proof of such provided to the agency.

All agency members must familiarise themselves with the Risk Management and Health & Safety policies and procedures in the workplace.  This should include:

  • Fire Handling
  • Moving & Assistance 
  • C.O.S.H.H. (Control of substances hazardous to health)

Employers have a duty to ensure a safe working environment and to provide lifting equipment and protective clothing where indicated.

IMMUNISATION [ Top]

All members are advised to ensure that they are up-to-date with immunisation, eg. Tetanus, Hep.B.

Those working in NHS hospitals must have written evidence of immunisation which can be obtained from your G.P. or Occupational Health Department.

M.R.S.A. (METHICILLAN RESISTANT STAPHLYCOCCUS AUREUS) [ Top]

The incidence of M.R.S.A. in hospitals and the community is increasing and some healthcare providers may have a policy of not employing agency staff who have had contact with M.R.S.A. positive patients or are known to be colonised themselves.

Any agency member must inform the agency if they come into this category. 

INCIDENT / ACCIDENT REPORTING [ Top]

A standard accident/incident form is available to all members.  In the event of an accident the member should report it immediately to the employer.  Where the employer is a hospital or nursing home they will complete their own form and ensure that the appropriate care is given.  The member should ask for a copy for their agency file.

The Transport and Works act 1992 makes it a criminal offence for certain workers to be unfit through drugs and/or drugs. D&A testing is increasing in a number of workplaces and Clyde Healthcare is flexible enough to carry out D&A testing in a number of work places.
